Under the strong, innovative leadership of chair Susan Hilferty, a set and costume designer, the Department of Design's faculty of working designers guide students with knowledge gained from firsthand experience. All design faculty are members of United Scenic Artists or hold advanced degrees in design. Their collected professional experience includes Broadway and off-Broadway, work in every regional theatre in America, feature films, opera, ballet, television, and industrials in the United States and throughout the world.
